Background
The Telkom Knockout sponsorship announcement in October 2006 launched a whole new chapter in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). Back then, the Telkom Knockout offered a generous prize pot of R 4.25 million rand to the winners of the competition, which was a new benchmark for soccer competitions on the continent. In fact the tournament has been PSL premium soccer property which has enjoyed overwhelming success since its inception six years ago.
